This artifact is a first-grade math lesson I created and presented to a group of classmates in a college course. The lesson focused on measuring objects using same-size connecting cubes. I included teacher modeling, guided practice, a partner activity, and an exit ticket. After teaching the lesson, I received feedback about what went well and suggestions for extending the lesson.
This artifact is important to my development as a teacher because it allowed me to practice teaching a lesson and receive feedback from my peers. I learned the importance of presenting information clearly, giving students opportunities to practice, and reflecting on ways to improve a lesson. The feedback also encouraged me to consider extensions that could help students apply their learning in new ways.
