This artifact is a classroom behavior and reward system used to encourage positive student behavior. Students earn pepperoni slices when teachers and staff members recognize them for demonstrating appropriate hallway behavior, such as walking safely and quietly. The pizza chart also reinforces how students are expected to behave when traveling through the school. This system provides students with positive recognition for meeting schoolwide expectations and encourages consistent behavior throughout the school.
This artifact is important to my development as a teacher because it helped me understand how positive reinforcement can encourage students to follow schoolwide expectations. I learned that recognizing students for appropriate behavior can motivate them to continue making positive choices. I also saw how involving teachers and staff in recognizing students creates consistency across the school. As a future elementary teacher, I can use positive reinforcement to create a supportive environment where students understand and are encouraged to meet behavioral expectations.
