This artifact is a set of unit planning slides created using the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework, a backward design model that focuses on identifying learning goals, determining assessments, and then planning instruction. These slides demonstrate my ability to design instruction with clear objectives, align assessments with learning outcomes, and create purposeful learning experiences.
This artifact is important to my development as a teacher because it helped me become more intentional and purposeful in how I plan instruction. Using the Understanding by Design framework, I learned to focus first on what I want students to understand, then align assessments and learning activities to create structured, meaningful lessons rather than just planning activities. It also helped me see the importance of alignment in supporting student learning, and it has influenced how I approach lesson planning moving forward.
