This artifact is a student-centered art activity in which students were given a sheet of paper with a single blue dot and asked to turn it into anything they wanted. Students used their creativity and imagination to transform the same starting point into unique drawings. This activity took place in an elementary classroom and allowed students to make individual choices while participating in an open-ended learning experience.
This artifact is important to my development as a teacher because it helped me recognize the value of giving students opportunities to make choices and express their creativity. Although every student began with the same blue dot, each student could turn it into something different based on their own ideas. This experience showed me that open-ended activities can allow students to approach learning in different ways while still participating in the same classroom experience. As a future teacher, I want to provide students with opportunities to use their imagination, make choices, and feel comfortable expressing their individual ideas.
