This artifact is a case study I completed for a first-grade student as part of my reading assessment coursework. I analyzed screening results, observed the student's reading behaviors, and used diagnostic assessments to identify strengths and areas for growth. I also considered the student's interests and learning needs when thinking about appropriate reading interventions and next steps for instruction.
This artifact is important to my development as a teacher because it helped me understand the importance of assessing students to identify their individual strengths and learning needs. I learned that reading difficulties can involve different skills and that teachers must look closely at assessment results and observations before planning interventions. This experience also helped me recognize the importance of considering students' interests and confidence when supporting their reading development.
