Susan Tyner is an energetic, passionate, and innovative physical education teacher who is excited to join the Bluebonnet Elementary family in Lewisville ISD. With 28 years of experience in education and 21 of those years dedicated to serving the students and families of Wellington Elementary, Susan is stepping into this new chapter with enthusiasm and a deep commitment to student health and growth.
Throughout her career, Susan has received numerous accolades recognizing her dedication to education and coaching excellence. She was named “Teacher of the Month” by the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce in 2019 and was a top five finalist for LISD Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2020, following her selection as Wellington Elementary’s “Teacher of the Year.” She has twice been voted "Best of Denton County Coach of the Year" and was honored with a Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership in 2022 for her distinguished service to children and youth.
Susan earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University–Commerce. She began her teaching career in Quinlan ISD as a 2nd grade teacher and later returned to her hometown to serve as both an elementary teacher and high school coach at Rains ISD. After relocating to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, she taught in Irving ISD and was named a “Distinguished Technology Educator.” Her journey eventually led her to Lewisville ISD, where she found a long-term home at Wellington before making the exciting transition to Bluebonnet.
As a lifelong advocate for physical activity, Susan is an avid runner and believes strongly in modeling a healthy, active lifestyle for her students. She is passionate about empowering children to develop confidence, teamwork, and lasting fitness habits. Susan looks forward to fostering new relationships and bringing her love for teaching and coaching to the Bluebonnet community. As an educator, called to the most honorable of all professions, Coach Tyner is on a mission to IMPACT young lives in a positive and profound way!
