September 26, 2022 - Teaching proper technique & strategies for underhand throwing and catching
Students are practicing proper underhand throwing technique by applying the "Swing, Step, & Throw" method. In this activity, they toss using a variety of different objects and play with multiple partners.
Applying proper underhand throwing technique with "Skee Ball." Hula Hoop = 1pt, Laundry Basket = 2 pts, Bucket = 3 pts Each time the team scores exactly 10 pts earn a deck ring for your cone.
Continuing to develop proper throwing and catching skills with this Halloween themed activity. Successful throws and catches result in candy for your treat bucket. Which team can earn the most?
Bounce Ball develops teamwork, reaction time, & throwing with accuracy. The primary focus of this activity is catching above and below the waist.

"Snow Kids" practice overhand throwing at a moving target. The goal is to peg the runner as they jog from fort to fort.
During this activity, I was able to assess students' abilities to catch and use proper overhand throwing technique. I love seeing the progression from performing the skills in isolation to actually applying what they've learned in a game setting.
