Sleep

All of us need sleep to function well during the day.

If we don't get a good sleep, it can cause us to have difficulty paying attention, make poor decisions, and it can leave us feeling irritable, tired and grouchy.

YOU can improve your sleep!

1) Keep a regular sleep schedule. Go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every day. Even on weekends. It can take several weeks for our bodies to fully adjust to a new sleep schedule. Be sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep.

2) Avoid caffeine in the evening. Chocolate, tea and pop can keep us awake at night.

3) Make sure your room is dark and a comfortable temperature for sleep.

4) Exercise regularly for better sleep. Avoid exercising right before bedtime.

5) Go outside and enjoy the sun during the day. Sunlight helps the body to control its biological clock.

6) Do homework at a desk or table instead of doing it on your bed.

7) Find a relaxing activity before bed like reading or taking a bath, or listening to quiet music.
