Academic support for students should be intervention-based to build on their strengths, to support their challenges and to build skills
Interventions should include pre- and post-data collection to develop appropriate goals and to assess progress.Â
Draw upon a student's real-life experiences to reinforce learning
Make lesson hands-on/interactive to reinforce learning
Support the student in expanding their newly developed skill set to use across environments
Use functional activities/real life applications to reinforce academics (money, recipes etc.)
Identify goals that will foster independence, which is the ultimate goal
Assessments will inform the appropriate of academic strategies/goals
