Muddy Boots and Happy Hearts:
Kindergarten Rainy Day Adventure
When dark clouds appear, the kindergarten children know it’s time to go outside and explore!
Getting ready is busy and fun. Boots thump on the floor, zippers zip, and friends help each other with coats. Everyone is excited. They are not afraid of the rain; they are ready for it. Outside, the playground feels new. Mud squishes under their boots, and puddles are perfect for jumping. They watch the raindrop touch the soil, feel the rain on their faces, and laugh as they play together.
Rainy days help children learn. Jumping makes their legs strong. Walking on wet grass helps their balance. They see how plants and soil use the rain. They learn that getting messy can be fun.
Eat and Learn: A Sensory Approach to Letter Learning
Learning in kindergarten is most meaningful when children can use their senses. In this learning experience, we explored letters through food, making connections between stories, sounds, and real-life experiences.
While learning the letter D, the children watched Doraemon and learned about his favorite food, dorayaki. This helped them connect the letter sound with a familiar character and a new taste experience.
The following week, as we explored the letter O, the children had the opportunity to try onde-onde. Through tasting, observing, and discussing the food, children strengthened their letter recognition while engaging their senses.
By learning through stories and food, children developed curiosity, language skills, and a joyful connection to letter learning, making the experience both meaningful and memorable.
