Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is designed for students to enjoy exploring their interests, developing new interests, and developing the attributes of the IB Learner Profile in real-world contexts through individual experiences and collaborative projects. When given proper attention and time, CAS is often the highlight of students’ DP journeys. While the requirements of CAS are more difficult to fulfill during the current pandemic, there are still many ways students can grow through this process. Each month, we will highlight the CAS experiences of a selection of GJS students. This month, we showcase Cheryn 11B, Chery 11 A, and Lily 11C.
Cheryn, Chery and Lily designed a 10-week CAS project to teach English to unaccompanied minors from Afghanistan in order for them to be able to communicate easily in English. They met with their students via Zoom every Saturday for about 40 minutes per session. Throughout this 10-week CAS journey, they developed their planning and communication skills, and recognized and considered the ethics of choices and actions by taking into account the cultural context of their plan. Good job, girls!
(Noted: due to some restrictions we cannot post the pictures of the unaccompanied minors involved in this CAS project)
