Broccney Rewards Article
By: Aliya Kinar Nirwasita 4A, Kindamara Noerwahyudie 4A
At the start of UOI 3, Year 4 started using a digital currency. Many students participated in designing the currency, but the winner was BROCCNEY!
Then we started discussing the rewards if somebody earned ten Broccney or 50 Broccney. Students can get Broccney when they make good health choices and when they do good work, help out with the class, or when another student nominates them. There are two wheels you can spin when a student earns ten Broccney. One of the wheels is the student reward wheel, so if a student chooses that wheel, they can get many good rewards like, choose a dress-up theme for the next day, get 100 house points, 10 minutes early hometime, be the teacher for 10 minutes, and many more!! There is also a Teacher Challenge wheel, so if a student picks that wheel, any activity that the wheel lands on, a teacher has to do it. There are many fun activities on the Teacher Challenge wheel, like speak like a character for 10 minutes, sing your favorite song, do an awkward dance, lose 20 house points, and many more!!
My Winning Design: by Jessica 4B
I designed “Broccney” because I wanted people to eat more veggies and be healthier. It was my action. It was part of the “Healthy Currency” competition that Year 4 did as part of UOI 3.
I chose these colors because I wanted to make people bright and happy. The design is about a piece of broccoli that wants to make people healthy so he made money so people could eat more healthy food and exercise more. There were so many great designs in the competition, that came from all the Year 4 classes. Everyone voted using a Google Form. My design was chosen by students as the most popular. I am so glad that students can make healthy choices and earn “Brocccney” for rewards!
Year 4 also had a Health Olympics to earn more Broccney. The teachers set up plenty of good competitions that go into these categories: Mental Health, Physical Health, Relaxation Health, Social Health, and Kindness /FriendShip. Year 4 had an enjoyable time!!
There were many competitions to enter like the brainteaser competition, balance competition, making someone smile, and many more!! There were rewards too, like 3rd place, you get one Broccney if you were in 2nd place, you get two Broccney, and if you were in 1st place, you get three Broccney. Teachers from Year 4A guided the challenges. There were many exciting and healthy challenges.
Overall, Year 4 had a great time in UOI 3, even during the pandemic, and even if we can’t meet each other in person. Year 4 had a great time using the Broccney currency too!
