Dear Parents,
We have experienced a whirl-wind 6 weeks upon our return from our much needed semester break. This January - February edition of the Kontak is a very proud demonstration of the hard work, dedication to studies and evidence of learning and growth our students have achieved since our last edition. Please enjoy this start of year double-edition.
Our students have been engaged in a number of culminating events that reflect their impressive progress as inquirers. Each of the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes provides our learners with an opportunity to identify areas of keen personal interest upon which they base their specific exhibition or research paper efforts. Below you will find links to two google sites that host this year's Primary Years Programme Exhibition (PYPX2021) and our Middle Years Programme Personal Project Exhibition (PPE2021) as well as the compilation video celebration of our Year 12 IB DP Visual Arts Exhibition. A tremendous amount of time, energy and dedication is placed in these events in the best of times, and with current pandemic conditions requiring physical distancing, we have moved the events online. This does not mean the effort required has been reduced, but in actuality markedly increased. We are appreciative and thankful for the support received from parents, faculty, mentors, programme coordinators, administration, and of course, for the tremendous efforts put forth by the students themselves. All participants have had to step up their communication and collaboration efforts to make this all come together as purposefully and successfully as it has.
I highly encourage all community members to view the PYPX2021 opening ceremony, PYPX 2021, Personal Project Exhibition as well as the IBDP Visual Arts Exhibition as the undertakings our students have been engaged in will amaze you.
We have received official notification from the WASC International Commission that Global Jaya School has been fully reaccredited without further commentary and that the Visiting Committee report, as prepared in December 2020, has been accepted as submitted.
It is imperative to recognise and celebrate the significant period of development we have undertaken during the past two years. We should be very proud of this accomplishment as it highlights the critical work of faculty and administration, parents and students, as well as Board Members, to focus on continuous school improvement.
Our next steps include:
Update our Schoolwide Action Plan (SAP) with recent progress from the current academic year.
Incorporate areas of revised and detailed additional Critical Areas for Follow-up from the WASC visitation into our Schoolwide Action Plan (SAP).
Begin preparing for our next full self-study in advance our the combined WASC/IB visitation tentatively scheduled for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Many thanks for the dedication and commitment that helped in this positive outcome.
As promised the final Visiting Committee approved report is now released for consumption by our wider school community. Please see below for a viewable copy of the report:

Term Break
At this time Banten Province and the area of South Tangerang have extended the large scale social distancing protocols through to March 19, 2021.
Further information has been communicated from the National COVID19 Taskforce regarding their plans for large scale vaccination, which has already started in some areas of Indonesia, including DKI Jakarta. It is our understanding that the plan for vaccination of educators is developed, implemented and executed by the local and provincial authorities of South Tangerang and Banten Province. We await further information from authorities regarding the plan for our GJS faculty.
As was previously communicated, see our Stage 2: Blended Learning in the documents below. Note that these documents are subject to change depending on updated information received from local and national authorities. Please rest assured, we will keep you updated, we have throughout this prolonged period of challenge, with regards to the information that informs our current situation or that helps us prepare for the transition to one of the other scenarios outlined in our Return to Campus document.
We have engaged with our community members in a series of Coffee with Pak Cory meetings, sharing information about developments at Global Jaya School. Following our March break, we would like to resume our Coffee Sessions as we move into the final term of this academic year. To facilitate these sessions, while ensuring we are engaging with parents and community members on topics of their interest, I am soliciting suggestions for upcoming topics of Coffee with Pak Cory. Please click HERE to submit your suggestion for a future discussion topic.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay positive.
Warm regards,
Cory Carson
