Go Down the Rabbit Hole - to begin a journey that is particularly strange or complex.
Just like Alice in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, we have begun a Year 2 journey that is particularly strange and unusual. We have started the year virtually, with many parent-teacher meetings; lots of new technology; and new ways of meeting, learning and interacting via Google Meets and Seesaw.
The story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a classic for a reason. There are moments of frustration, intrigue, confusion and excitement. There are fascinating discoveries and interesting people; and ultimately, a happy ending. I think this year will be a similar kind of adventure: there will be times where we don't know what's going on, where we have 'aha' moments, and where we discover new amazing things together as a Year 2 family. Students, teachers and parents will face challenges together and we will grow together. We are excited and prepared for our learning journey into Wonderland.
Wellbeing Wednesdays are a new addition to the Year 2 schedule this year. Every Wednesday morning, we take a break from technology and instead focus on our mental health and wellbeing by selecting a task from the wellbeing choice board.
We have taken mindfulness walks through our compounds and listened to the birds singing. We have let the world go by as we watched the clouds and imagined shapes and animals within them. We have learned new yoga poses and reflected on how we feel after a yoga session. We have done random acts of kindness for people in our family.
Wellbeing is crucial, particularly in the current climate, for little people AND big people. Make sure you are setting aside time in your day to take care of yourself, and perhaps take some inspiration from our Year 2 students below!
