The Year 1 students have started the year off with an exploration into organising systems, rules and routines in our first unit of inquiry, How We Organise Ourselves, with the central idea: Communities make efforts to create systems that meet their needs.
Whilst we may not be in school, the inquiry and learning continued with the help of some very special guest speakers.
Family Members: The students interviewed their own family members about rules and routines at home, they then uploaded a short video about what they had discovered onto our HBL learning platform, Seesaw. The students were guided by a series of questions:
1. What are the rules at home?
2. What happens if you break those rules?
3. Who enforces the rules at home?
Ibu Dewi: The students listened to a presentation by one of our Primary Principals, Ibu Dewi, about rules and routines at school. During the presentation, the students identified a variety of rules at school, why those rules are important, what happens if we break the school rules and the people who enforce the rules at school.
Pak Alwan and Pak Asep: Pak Alwan and Pak Asep visited our google meet to discuss the rules and routines in different areas of the school, with a special focus on the gym, swimming pool and playing field. The students learnt that not all areas of the school have the same rules.
Ibu Maria: Our school nurse stopped by to talk to the students about rules and routines in our community, with a focus on the new rules and routines to keep us safe during the current pandemic.
