Dear Parents,
This week we complete our 4th full week of Home-Based Learning. Every day, I am overwhelmed by the combined efforts of our students, their parents and our faculty in continuing to develop and deliver a high-quality learning experience for our students. We continue to receive feedback from parents and faculty, that results in the incremental improvements to our approach that ensure we remain working together and moving forward in providing your children, our students, with the best possible educational experience. While it has not always been easy, we continue to face and adapt to challenges TOGETHER. On behalf of the faculty and admin, to you our dedicated parents, we once again say THANK YOU.
This past week we were informed that large scale social distancing had been extended in our area through September 6. While large scale physical distancing remains in place, there remains a provision that allows individuals who do not have all the tools necessary to conduct their work while at home to return to work from school.
That stated, we have started the process of welcoming back both Indonesian and expat faculty onto the GJS campus. At this time, all individuals remain self-selecting, they do not, nor do the people they live with, have uncontrolled co-morbidities, and all have safe and secure methods of moving to and from their homes to our campus. All faculty who wish to work on-site must undergo COVID testing, as was explained in our Return to Campus plan. Once on campus, all faculty members must adhere to the health check and physical distancing protocols that we have put in to place. As we have begun returning covid tested and cleared faculty to the campus, we have also ended the casual on and off campus visits that students and faculty could request. Moving forward, all faculty must be tested and cleared prior to their working from campus. Student visitations will be limited to drop off and pick up from the main gate areas until further notice.
A small reminder regarding our Community Health Mapping exercise that was communicated last week. Under the direction from the Ministry of Education & Culture (MoE&C), as your Head of School, I am required to complete and submit the Teaching and Learning Process Readiness List on behalf of Global Jaya School. We kindly request that each of you take the 2-3 minutes needed to complete this survey on behalf of your family and submit before 12:00 pm on September 4, 2020. (deadline extended) Please complete only ONE (1) form per family. The form is available HERE.
PLEASE NOTE: This does not signal we are starting our plan to return to campus with Stage 2: Blended Learning at this time. This is data collection and submission requirement we must comply with.
Recently the Ministry of Education, announced that each student in Indonesia would be able to access an internet quota subsidy from the government. The amount is 35 thousand rupiahs per month for September through December. To access this subsidy, GJS must enter students' handphone numbers through Dapodik (a national central data platform for education). The internet quota will be topped-up directly to the handphone number by the provider. As GJS does not control, where and to whom your child's handphone data could be shared with once it is loaded into the Dapodik system, each parent must decide if they wish to take advantage of this benefit. If you agree to share your child's handphone data to receive this internet quota, please complete and submit THIS FORM on or before the close of school on September 7th.
Global Jaya School is extremely fortunate to be supported by a dedicated, caring and active group of parents, some of whom carry their duty further by participating in our Parents Association. They help provide feedback to the school, work with us on the identification, resolution and celebration of challenges and successes. They make up a crucial constituency within our school while always endeavouring to serve you as parents, in providing information, acting as a conduit for communication and supporting you and your children as community members planning and executing many events throughout the school year.
Please join me in welcoming the Global Jaya School Parents Association for the 2020-2021 school year:

Not so long ago, in April 2018 to be precise, Global Jaya School received it’s 5 - year accreditation/authorisation visitation by a combined team of WASC (Western Association of Colleges and Schools) and IBO (International Baccalaureate Organisation) educators. The results of that visitation produced our 5-year School-wide Action Plan.
The leadership, faculty and staff are preparing for our coming Mid-Cycle Visit from WASC in November of 2020. Given the current pandemic situation both within Indonesia and globally, these typically face to face visitations have pivoted to using video conferencing as a means to bring together all parties. The visitation will entail students, parents, faculty and leadership engaging with the visitation team members remotely via Google Meet during the days of their visit. The result of such efforts is to ensure that we are a school remain focused on continuous improvement focused on improving student learning. As further details come available regarding the specifics of the visitation, we will keep you updated.
I can be reached via email @ coryc@globaljaya.com if you have questions or concerns that you need help in deliberating and resolving.
We want to continue to remind everyone to abide by the requirements to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay positive.
Warm Regards,
Cory Carson
