Bubbles…bubbles…everyone loves bubbles. Are you wondering how bubbles form? Year 2 students are currently learning about matter. Under the transdisciplinary theme of How the World Works, they did a simple experiment. They applied the scientific method to find out how bubbles form.
They used pipe cleaners, mixing bowls, warm water, shampoo and dish soap. They were divided into shampoo and dish soap groups. They made hypotheses about which one makes better bubbles: shampoo or dish soap?
At the end of the lessons, both shampoo and dish soap make good bubbles. Now they understand that bubbles are a thin layer of soap and water around a pocket of air. The bubble is actually made up of layers. The layers of the bubble surround the air inside the bubble, and keep it inside. Science brings us so much fun.
Year 2 students are so grateful to have had Ibu Imma Nuella as our guest speaker. She has been working for a national oil and gas company for several years. Since Year 2 students are learning about matter, Ibu Imma was happy to share about oil and gas and how they formed beneath the earth for a very long time with high pressure and high temperatures.
Students watched a video of how the employees work so hard in remote areas to provide fuel for us. They wear very safe uniforms to protect themselves while working. After listening to ibu Imma, students have a better understanding and are well informed about the benefits of oil and gas in our daily lives. Thank you for your great sharing session with us, Ibu Imma.
