We believe everyone (including the teachers) was at least a little happy when the school announced an early break for us in mid-March. The first few weeks would surely be fun and relaxing. However, after a couple of weeks, it started to get boring and wasn’t exciting anymore. We miss our friends, our teachers (students), and even just the atmosphere of our school.
We started to run out of ideas of what activities to do, what games to play, what movies to watch, what books to read.
Some of us started to gain weight or lose muscle mass.
Some started to have a conflict with family members because we were forcibly confined together with them 24/7.
Happiness is about balance.
Spending time with someone we love is nice, but meeting them every hour every minute might have a different effect.
Relaxing is necessary, but lying down on your bed for the whole day can be depressing.
Freedom is great, but sometimes people need a proper schedule in order to improve.
Even the smartest and the most disciplined students still rely on the teachers to be by their side to give a direct positive reinforcement, compliment their progress, and to provide direction or motivation.
These past few weeks SSS has continuously been present and been there for you to keep you active, healthy and happy at home. With our #HappinessProject, we have set up check-up sessions once a week for each year level. If you want to contact us, here’s the schedule and link to the google meet:
We are also continuing our #Well-BeingWednesday lunch activity (meet.google.com/qod-otzo-zas) and have added the #Fri-Yay session during YLM time to celebrate the great things you have accomplished each week.
Using the PERMA model from Dr Seligman, we would like to maintain and even increase your happiness level through Positive emotions, Engagement, Relationship, Meaningfulness and Achievement. All PowerPoint presentations and videos from our sessions are posted in ManageBac every week.
Here are some challenges that SSS have started since the first Well Being Wednesday online session that you can still join:
In order for us to add your House Points, kindly send us your evidence via email (sss@globaljaya.com using your GJS student account) or if you choose to post it in your IG, kindly tag @sss_globaljaya. So far, ELANG is leading in the competition.
We would like to thank all parents for your continuous trust and cooperation with us. It's your support that makes everything become a meaningful learning process at home, especially during this difficult time. If you need any consultation time for yourself, please don't hesitate to reach out as well. We got your back!
