Kindergarten finished UOI 3 this term by making trioramas about Life on Land or Life below Water under the Transdisciplinary Theme: Sharing the Planet. They represented their knowledge and understanding through these projects that they shared with the school community.
At the beginning of the term, the students were introduced to natural environments then were encouraged to choose their focus of learning between Life on Land or Life below Water. Aside from learning about the environment itself, they also explored how people use and interact with theses environments in positive and negative ways. We, the teachers, supported the children with various resources such as videos, books, and art and craft materials so that they could further their research and create their trioramas.
WaLL - E (Water and Land Learning Expo)
Kindergarten opened up a mini expo to share their learning through WALL – E. We invited parents and other year level classes to visit our expo. We were very proud to see our students presenting their learning to the visitors and answering their questions. Well done, Kindergarten!!
Thank you for your hard work this term :)
The Kindergarten students did very well adjusting to Online Learning. It was exciting from the start of our first successful Google Meet at the end of Term 3. Then after the break, we re-adjusted again and it seemed so smooth. Some of children, and us teachers, needed more time to readjust to the online schedules but we did it and we are so proud of them – of all of us!
To continue the learning at home, the children have been provided with activity booklets related to our UOIs and, of course, matching their developmental stages for Bahasa Indonesia, English, Math, Social Emotional and Physical Development.
The Google Meet sessions are designed to give the students similar experiences to what they had at school such as, morning routines where we greet each other, and Calendar Time for the students to practise a variety of language and math skills, including number recognition and measurement of time. These sessions also allow for a briefing about the day’s activities and expectations. Show and Tell is also done during the Online meeting so they can hone their speaking skills, continue to grow in their confidence to speak to a group, and to practise empathy by listening to others.
Let’s not forget our Specialist Teachers, whose sessions also went well in engaging the students with the lessons in Physical Education, Religion and Mandarin.
Last but not least, we thank our parents for their support, collaboration and un-ending help and patience to continue at-home and Online learning. We couldn’t do this without you, Parents!
