In this unit, under the transdisciplinary theme “Who We Are” and the central idea, “Health care options and personal choice contribute to a person’s health,” the Year 5 students explored through the five Elements of Health (Physical, Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, Social). Throughout the course of the six weeks, we learned the value of personal choice and how vital it is to achieve a balanced lifestyle.
We were introduced to the five Elements of Health through various provocation activities and by hosting a variety of expert guest speakers from health-related fields, including physical and mental health fields. After our surface-level introduction to the Elements of Health, we decided to take our learning deeper and chose one Element to focus on throughout the six-week unit. We designed a learning goal, and sub-goals to track our weekly progress. We also created our own rubric and a timeline to assess ourselves throughout the process. These components supported us in reaching our learning goal by:
We documented our learning journey through digital recording that showed our progress daily over the six week period. Even when we moved to Online Learning, we continued to take work towards our goals. During this unit, we learned how to express ourselves through writing poetry in English and through writing pantun in Bahasa Indonesia. In Visual Arts, we created an art piece that was personally significant and meaningful.
Now, at the end of this unit, we would like to share our overall learning journey through our online Year 5 Art Gallery. This gallery displays our learning goal development and success, as well as showcasing a collaboration of work within this unit of inquiry. We encourage you to explore through our learning journey located in the Google site, ‘The Year 5 Art Gallery’.

A very special thanks to the Year 5 teachers who worked tirelessly with students to adapt this summative project from a 'physical' representation to an online virtual experience! Thank you!
