On Friday the 13th of March 2020, the Arts students of PYP, MYP and DP collaborated with the teachers to produce two shows, Primary and Secondary, two Art exhibitions, PYP-MYP and DP, and Film screening. Our theme was Suspense because it's Friday the 13th! It was originally planned on Saturday with the Family Fun Day collaboration event. Despite the cancellation of the FFD due to the present pandemic situation, we're proud to see how the students and teachers hand in hand kept the enthusiasm going, and worked hard to produce a fantastic event showcasing the Arts talents. Big applause goes to our students who eagerly and skillfully managed their time in between rehearsals and school work! They were able to apply the ATL skills they learned in the Arts classes.
We started the event with a solo singing competition, Primary and Secondary, and Film screening. Congratulations to all the winners! You showed fantastic talents and effort invested into your work! Thanks also to our judges who supported the competitions throughout the rounds.
The opening of the Art Exhibition in the theater lobby brought lots of positive atmosphere. We witnessed how wonderfully Artwork was made by Andra Semesta, our alumni from 2009 while he listened to his late cousin's song in the background. We were also amazed at the many beautiful paintings, sculptures, art installation and graphics displayed in the MPH and theater lobby. We celebrated the learning of our students in Art as well as our alumni, Andra Semesta, Allula and Stephanie Poetri and GJS staff who joined our exhibition. Great job, everyone!
Primary and Secondary shows were packed with an audience, including our wonderful parents. We enjoyed the variety of the programmes. From traditional to contemporary dance, from solo to choir singing performance, from solo piano and duet guitar to ensemble and band performance. It was indeed a celebration of learning! Well done to all participants.
We wrapped up the day with a film screening in the theater. Lots of suspense films filling the atmosphere in the hall. Such creative screenplays made us not want to leave the hall. Great work, film makers!
We'd like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our PA, leadership team, teachers and GA staff, Jason Suwito Year 12 student, our alumni and all who worked behind the scene. We did it despite all the struggles we faced when the decision to cancel the big collaborative event of Arts Expo and FFD was made. Thank you very much.
