Phase 1 Return

Update - Week 2

We have had a lovely start to our return to school.

We have been reading with the children at school as well as looking at phonics and tricky words so that we can ascertain the children's next steps.

We will not be sending reading books home yet, but will continue to read at school. Please use the links on the story time page of this site to support reading at home, if you wish. There is also a new page of ideas linked to the areas of the EYFS curriculum for you to use on the days off from school if this is helpful to you.

Welcome back!

We are very much looking forward to seeing the children and are working hard to ensure the transition back to school is calm and safe. We are anticipating that we will need to spend plenty of time supporting the children pastorally in their return to school and understand that, for some, this may be a challenging transition, having been used to being at home with their families for so long. We will do everything we can to support the children in this transition and provide the safe and secure school environment they are used to.

Following from Mr Meunier's correspondence about the return to school next week please find a bit more information below and on the following pages.

Google Site

I will leave the activities for the period of home learning on this site uploaded for as long as I can. Some copyright laws mean some content will need to be removed once the UK moves out of lockdown but I will keep you posted on this.

For the days your child is not in school, please see the weekly tabs connected to this page with some ideas of activities.

If your child is not attending school, as agreed by Mr Meunier, I will contact you directly regarding the days your child is scheduled to be in school.

Drop off and pick up

As explained by Mr Meunier, one parent should drop of each child using our normal gate. Please respect social distancing when waiting to come to the gate.

A member of the Reception team will be in the outdoor area, 2m away from the gate, to greet your child. We will be unable to 'take' upset children out of parents arms, due to social distancing, but will be able to greet children as we would normally and hold their hand, reassure them etc once they are through the gate.

Another team member will be at the normal door to welcome the children into the cloakroom and help them with their belongings before they wash their hands.

Other members of the team will be positioned in the classrooms to welcome the children.

At pick up, we will be ready with the children on the MUGA (the new coloured court area) to be collected, as Reception and Nursery parents can park in the main court area, there is no need for you to come to the classroom to collect your child.

We will be there before the end of school so that the children are clear of the older children leaving their classes.

If you have any concerns about drop off and pick up, do feel free to contact me.

General

I would be grateful if you could talk to your child about returning, sharing with them who will be in on the same day as them, if you wish. The house groups and days the children are scheduled to be in school are listed below.

Staff may be wearing masks, if they choose, letting the children know this in advance may be helpful so that they know what to expect when they see us. The videos below may help with this.
