Fruits and Vegetables

DEAR RECEPTION children, parents and carers. I hope that you are well. The focus of this week is Fruit and Vegetables!

Everybody can first find some fruits and vegetables in the kitchen.

What kind of shape is an orange/banana etc? What does it look/feel like?(long/big/speckly/rough/curved/smooth/soft etc)

As I know that many are limited in their supplies (and need to feel comfortable/able/willing to do chosen activity!), I am suggesting three different activities.

1)COLLAGE:PAPER, MAGAZINES, SCISSORS. Draw a bowl shape. Using the template below, draw similar shapes of fruit/vegetables in magazines and cut out. Make a colourful collage of fruit and vegetables in a bowl!

2) PRINTING:PAINT, SPONGES, STYROFOAM TRAYS ETC, CUT UP VEGETABLES AND FRUIT. See below for more details. Vegetables and fruit can be cut up and used to print with.

3) SALTDOUGH CREATIONS: Make saltdough (recipe below). Children create fruit and vegetables from saltdough. These are then cooked in an oven (22o degrees, approx 2 hours). Once hardened, they can be painted.

THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT FOR THESE ACTIVITIES. YOU MAY HAVE OTHER IDEAS which may suit you more-please be assured that all creative activities that you choose to do- from simple drawing of fruit and vegetables to something more ambitious, every single thing that you can do will be wonderful. If possible, I would love to see WHATEVER you have done on Tapestry. With all best wishes, Ms M X
