Georgetown Hoyas

Rah! rah! rah!

Hurrah for

Georgetown!!

Sports in GU-Q

GU-Q, like its main campus has a long history when it comes to sports.

As part of the Hoya experience, GUQ focuses on sports to play a major role in students experiences. A lot of our students enjoy an athletic life aside from their academic life. This allows more students to be able to maintain their physical and mental health while completing a challenging degree. Our Hoyas enjoy taking part in tournaments with other universities within EC, and the rest of the student body makes sure to show their support through amazing chants and excitement.

GU-Q currently has the following teams that represent them in the EC tournaments.

There Goes Old Georgetown!

The fight song of Georgetown is one of the famous fight songs in the US. It is sung by the GU-Q students during their NSO, convocation, commencement, various other events at GU-Q, and sports events. This song brings the community together in the Hoya Spirit.

The Georgetown Football Club hosts many matches between the various batches at GU-Q and also occasionally the most awaited Faculty vs Student Football/Futsal matches.

The Hoya Cricket Club under the leadership of team Captain Fuaad Ansaruddin (GU-Q'23) and the Georgetown Cricket Club in D.C. under Matt Turner (SFS'23) took an initiative to have the cricket team from D.C. over to Doha.

Three mathces took place between GU-Q and GU, at the end of which GU-Q won the trophy.

The Cricket team of GU-Q lifted the champions trophy when they won the Fall 2022 EC Tournament.

GU-Q Hoyas is an initiative by the SGA that focuses on sports at GUQ.
