Every time you host an event, whether it's Small Batch, Geeks Who Drink, Boombox Bingo, a private event, or a theme quiz, you are required to submit an Event Report. It's how you get paid!
The procedures for your event report are the same across all brands (GWD, SBT, and DNB) and event types.
Once you've submitted your event report, the pictures, scores, team names, and even your name and photo (if you've set it up correctly in OYQ) will appear on your venue's page on our website, geekswhodrink.com.
Note: DO NOT TYPE ANYTHING IN THE "POST" FIELD OF THE EVENT REPORT. If you need to convey any information to the QM support team, email qmsupport@geekswhodrink.com.
PICTURE QUALITY IS IMPORTANT!!!
Team pictures (or pictures of doggos, etc.) should be clear and uploaded so that they aren't sideways or upside down (see FAQ below). These pics go up on our website (and in the case of JBL, to jeopardybarleague.com) and are sometimes selected to be used in marketing. The website itself is marketing for your quiz.
A few no-nos:
- Blurry pics (retake it or chuck it)
- Sideways or upside down photos (the photo uploader is kinda touchy but this is super avoidable)
- A snapshot of your laptop screen
- Just one photo of the bar (Get out there and talk to your teams! That's another reason we take team pics, and part of hosting.)
- Inappropriate (Lewd gestures, rude clothing, nudity, etc. When in doubt, email qmsupport@geekswhodrink.com before uploading the photo)
Event hosts (Quizmasters, JBL Hosts, BNG Callers) are responsible for submitting a complete event report within 24 hours of the start time of their scheduled event (e.g. by 7pm Wednesday for an event that started at 7pm Tuesday) in order to promote the event and claim their pay. Any event reports submitted beyond that point are considered late.
Failure to submit reports can result in missing pay. It is the host’s responsibility to submit event reports for their pay. If an event report has not been submitted within 7 days of the event, please email qmsupport@geekswhodrink.com with the date and location of the event.
Excessive late or missing reports can lead to remedial action up to and including termination from Geeks Who Drink.
You should really do this at the venue, while you're announcing the final standings and handing out prizes. All you have to do is click "Download Scores" on the Scores & Standings tab. If you forgot to do this at the venue, though, have no fear! As long as it's before midnight Hawai'i time, you'll be able to log back into Risio, launch your venue, and download the scores without a problem.
If it's after midnight Hawai'i time, then you've unfortunately become a victim of The Midnight Purge™. If that's the case, email QM Support and include the date you hosted and the name of the venue. We'll summon Jon Pio, Necromancer of Scores, and he'll be able to send them over to you within 48 hours.
Go to obeyyourquizmaster.com and click on Create a Blog in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Yeah, we know it isn't really a blog, but it used to be, and we're nostalgic. Just go with it.
After you click the button, you'll need to do the following:
Select Host
Find your venue
Verify the date is correct
Upload the pictures you took at the event
Upload the scoresheet you downloaded from Risio
DO NOT TYPE ANYTHING IN THE "POST" SECTION
Click Publish
Go to obeyyourquizmaster.com and click on Create a Bingo Log in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
After you click the button, you'll need to do the following:
Select Bingo Host
Find your venue
Verify the date is correct
Upload the pictures you took at the event (Special note: As of December 2024, the Drag and Drop function for pictures on the Bingo Log does not work. Hosts will need to choose each individual file using the Choose File button to upload. We are in the process of fixing this, and apologize for the delay.)
Click Publish
This step is kind of optional, but it's a good habit to be in. Click back to BlogWatch Home, and select Payroll Records. Make sure there's an Event for the date you just entered, and then double-check at geekswhodrink.com by searching your venue and finding the newest blog post. Usually things go off without a hitch, but sometimes there are issues and we want to make sure you're paid the correct amount! If there's ever an issue with the upload, try again and then email qmsupport@geekswhodrink.com if things still aren't working correctly.
Your Event Report is due within 24 hours of the event start time. For example, if your event started at 7:00pm on Tuesday, your report is due 7:00pm Wednesday. It is your virtual time card and how you get paid. It is easy to do. Please do it.
The QM Support Team is very flexible on overdue blogs, but excessive late or missing blogs can lead to remedial action up to and including termination of your position with Geeks Who Drink.
Do not use this section to try and send messages and/or feedback to the QM Support Team. This is where QMs used to type a multi-paragraph blog when that was still a requirement. Now, any text entered into the "Post" field goes nowhere and nobody gets a notification if you've left something there. It's lava! "Post" is lava.
If there is anything you would like to share with the QM Support Team, please email them at qmsupport@geekswhodrink.com.
Sounds like you've become a victim of The Midnight Purge™. If that's the case, email qmsupport@geekswhodrink.com and include the date you hosted and the name of the venue. We'll summon Jon Pio, High Necromancer of Scores, and he'll be able to send them over to you within 48 hours.
The three likeliest reasons are:
You uploaded your scores first and are now receiving an error message. Always upload your pictures first to avoid this, but to clear the error all you need to do is upload the pictures, click the blue "Save" button, and you should be able to publish.
They're HEICs. OYQ doesn't currently support that format. You'll need to convert the HEICs into PNGs or JPGs.
The file sizes are way too large. They should be about 1.2 MB or smaller. Anything larger than that will delay uploading or just not upload.
The most likely reason the pictures are flipped is because you took them in Portrait orientation instead of Landscape. If you notice your pictures flipping onto their side during the upload, do the following:
Remove them from the event report upload
Open them in your system's photo application
Rotate the photo, save, then rotate it again to the right orientation and save again.
Upload the new save file and things should work correctly!
If you notice your pictures are flipped after you've finished uploading, navigate to the "Quiz Events" tab on the Home page of OYQ, click on the pencil icon for the most recent event, Unpublish the report, and then complete the steps above before clicking Publish again.
Yes, you'll still be paid, but late and missing event reports are very bad. If you realize you've gone over 1 week without submitting, email qmsupport@geekswhodrink.com with the dates and locations of your missing reports.
