What I should already know...

  • All living things need these things: Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduction, Excretion, Nutrition.

  • Classification of living things are broken into kingdoms, Such as: Bacteria, Archaea, Protista, Funghi, Plantae and Animals.

Vocabulary Definition

Asexual

Not involving the fusion of gametes.

Fertilised

The fusion of gametes to give rise to a new individual organism.

Gametes

An organism's reproductive cell.

Genetics

A branch of biology concerned with the study of genes.

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth or hatching, involving a conspicuous and relatively abrupt change in the animal's body structure through cell growth and differentiation.

Reproduction

The biological process by which new individual organisms- offspring are produced from their parents.

Sexual

Involving gametes.

Life Cycles

  • All living things have a life cycle and each stage is as important as the last.

  • Different organisms all have different life cycles.

  • Tadpoles and caterpillars go through a transformation called metamorphosis. They change into a completely different creature.

  • Tadpoles grow a spine, lungs and even change their digestive system so they can consume worms and insects. Tadpoles change into toads, caterpillars change into butterflies.
