What I Should Already Know

  • Healthy foods- fruit and vegetables, brown rice, brown bread, nuts, seeds.

  • Unhealthy foods- fizzy drinks, sugary, crisps, chocolate.

  • Sleep, exercise and meditation are really important for us to stay healthy.

  • Good hygiene includes brushing our teeth and cleaning ourselves.

What we need to stay healthy

  • Doing regular exercise will help us all feel great and keep our bodies strong!

  • Our hearts need to be kept active and pumping.

  • We should be eating 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day (Most of these should be vegetables)

  • It’s acceptable to eat unhealthy food sometimes, just not all of the time.

  • Some meat can be good for us, but only in small amounts

  • Red meats (beef, lamb, pork etc.) and processed meats are not good for us.

Why we should keep ourselves clean!

We need to brush our teeth to get rid of plaque - this is bits of food that get stuck between out teeth when we eat and harmful bacteria that builds up throughout the day. If we do not clean our teeth twice a day, it can make our teeth rot and can make us ill.

What is bacteria?

You might have heard of bacteria before. Lots of people think bacteria is always bad for us but this is not true. Some bacteria is really good for us - in fact, we would not be able to live without it! It helps us to break down our food, keep us healthy and happy. We need to eat healthily to make sure we have lots of this good bacteria in our bodies. Some bacteria can be bad for us though, so we need to make sure we stay clean by washing our hands and having a bath or a shower. Watch the video to find out more.
