Before your exam, review the 2025 Need to Know materials. These outline the areas that may be covered on each type of exam and will help you prepare effectively.
To register to take an exam, you will need to purchase a PurplePass ticket.
Visit PurplePass and select your preferred test date and location.
Purchase your PurplePass ticket.
After payment, a confirmation page will appear, and you will receive an email with your order details. This email is your registration confirmation.
It is your responsibility to make sure that your name appears on the required test date. This will complete your test order process.
Make sure your name appears on the correct test date.
Ensure you have ordered the correct exam and confirmed the date with your management.
At check-in, confirm you have the correct exam and the correct math conversion table for that exam. Proctors will provide conversion sheets, but it is ultimately your responsibility.
All test orders are final. GateWay cannot cancel tests or refund fees.
You may take only one exam per 3-hour session.
If your location offers one session in a day, you may only take one test that day.
If your location offers two sessions (morning and afternoon), you may take one test in each session. Tickets must be purchased separately for each session.
When you check in, you must present:
Your PurplePass registration receipt (email confirmation)
A valid photo ID:
Current state or government-issued driver’s license or photo ID issued on or after January 1, 1997, or
Current passport
GateWay Testing Center: Personal calculators are not allowed. Official non-programmable calculators will be provided.
Off-Campus Locations: You may use your own non-programmable, non-scientific calculator, but it must be approved by the proctor before use.
No additional materials are allowed in the testing room.
Cell phones must be turned off and stored out of sight.
Proctors will provide (if applicable): calculator, pencil, paper, and a testing conversion table sheet.
GateWay Testing Center: 15 minutes before your test
All other locations: 30 minutes before your test
