Welcome to UWCSEA East
High School Transition Site

To new students, a warm welcome to UWCSEA East High School and the start of what we hope will be a very happy and successful journey with us. To current students, welcome to the site that will support your transition to a new programme.

In High School all students work towards the UWCSEA High School Diploma. After the successful completion of each element of our learning programme, you will be presented with your diploma at graduation.

This site gives you the information about our High School learning programmes, starting with each of our Academic programmes: either the UWCSEA or IGCSE programme in Grades 9 and 10, and the IB Diploma in Grades 11 and 12.

Below that you will find overview information for the Activities, Outdoor Education, Personal and Social Education (PSE), and Service programmes.

We hope the information will help you to understand what options and opportunities are available as an East High school student.

UWCSEA Activities are a vital part of student life and learning. Activities invigorate the life of the College by bringing students together for creative, athletic, leadership and numerous other endeavours. Through the Activities programme, students have the chance to explore their talents, develop new skills and to be successful beyond the classroom. By trying out new things, they discover what they are good at, and are motivated to succeed.

The opportunities for learning at UWCSEA extend far beyond the classroom as students take on experiential challenges that build resilience, collaboration and leadership. While the programme begins in Grade 1 and builds through the Primary School, the Middle School and High School outdoor education activities provide new and more intense challenges to students. Incorporating expeditions within the region and optional participation in the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA), the Outdoor Education programme is an opportunity for students to connect to nature, to discover their strengths outside the classroom and, most importantly, to develop the determination, adaptability and teamwork needed to meet the challenges these adventures present.

Personal and Social Education (PSE) is a significant element of the UWCSEA Learning Programme, offering learning that underpins the others. Your mentor will support the learning through this programme, and students will engage with topics that support their emotional and social development. Topics covered include those related to physical and social wellbeing, study skills, legal responsibilities in Singapore, navigating relationships both online and offline, transition to university, and important life skills such as cooking a simple meal. Students are actively involved in discussions and conversations with their mentors and with their peers. Frequently students will also lead aspects of both mentor and PSE activities.

The UWCSEA Service programme empowers students to become aware, able and active contributors to the community. This includes service on campus, locally in Singapore, and internationally through projects in developing countries. Service is at the heart of our mission, and service activities are a vital part of the learning programme. All service projects are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
