The primary purpose of social studies education is to help young people develop as scholars in a culturally diverse community and increasingly interdependent world. Social studies curriculum at Gainesville will focus on the historical thinking skills of sourcing, context, corroboration, and close reading of primary sources. Students will develop knowledge and skills in history, geography, civics and economics to prepare them for informed participation as a global citizen.
