Curriculum Overview
The GHS Mathematics curriculum is designed to continue students' development of mathematical fluency, problem-solving skills, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to communicate mathematically.
Our courses aim to prepare students for life, the work force, trade schools, and institutions of higher learning. The course topics include algebra, calculus, computers/computer programming, discrete math, functions, geometry, probability, statistics, and trigonometry. The Mathematics pathway provides opportunities for students to enroll in high level mathematics studies.
Literacy skills for communication are integrated throughout out math courses. Students are expected to actively participate in their learning by providing verbal and/or written explanations. They reflect on their learning, identify errors and explain how to correct them. These experiences allow students develop both a deeper understanding of the concept and their ability to communicate.
