Curriculum Overview
Welcome to the home of creativity, experimentation, skill building, and 21st century skills. When you take an art class at GHS, you will receive direct instruction while having room to experiment with media and skills to find your personal path and style. Your skills are practiced and honed, then applied to personally relevant artwork. Digital and computer tools bring your planning, revising, and artmaking to the next level. You will analyze art from different cultures and time periods and find connections to contemporary artists and your art practice. During the year, you will read and write critically about artists of choice, your artwork, and the artwork of peers. The art room is a collaborative community, where peers give feedback, share ideas, and express their thoughts and opinions. At GHS, the art room is a place to learn about traditional and unusual media, take risks, and enjoy the process.
