Pre-Health Planning

Students in either the Public Health BA or BS major may wish to leverage their public health education in a health profession. Most health professional schools require a general curriculum of chemistry, biology, math, and physics; UCLA courses that programs have accepted in the past are included on the Pre-Health Requirements worksheet. Students should always confirm their top-choice programs' application requirements.

Public Health BS students will complete many of these courses as part of their preparation for the major (pre-major) requirements. Public Health BA students can work with academic advisors to develop a plan to complete any additional courses alongside their other degree requirements.

The Career Center and Center for Academic Advising in the College created a website for students from any major who are interested in exploring health professions. Pre-Health at UCLA features an overview of pre-health resources at UCLA, application tips and timelines, information about gap years and post-bac programs, as well as interactive profiles for some of the most popular health professions.
