The mission of the Fielding School of Public Health (FSPH) Undergraduate Student Services Office is to provide comprehensive academic advising for the Public Health majors and minor to prospective and current undergraduate students.
The FSPH Undergraduate Student Services Office:
Advises prospective and current UCLA undergraduate students regarding the major and minor admissions processes
Administers the major and minor admissions reviews
Advises FSPH undergraduate students regarding University, School, and major/minor requirements and academic policies
Guides students toward pre-professional opportunities to prepare them for careers in public health and related fields
Coordinates scheduling and enrollment in FSPH undergraduate courses across departments
Reviews and processes student petitions with authority delegated by the FSPH Undergraduate Steering Committee
Maintains updated student records for all FSPH undergraduate majors and minors
Represents FSPH at recruitment events on- and off-campus, including: Major Blast, Bruin Days, and local transfer days
Implements programming for FSPH undergraduate students, including: professional development, academic planning workshops, community networking events, and Commencement
Connects students with campus resources for academic, extracurricular, and personal support
Notifies students of academic actions, including probation, Subject to Dismissal, and dismissal
Educates students about academic progress and collaborates with students to develop individualized academic plans
Students will be able to:
Identify whether a Public Health major or minor is appropriate to their academic, professional, and personal interests and goals
Navigate the application process with transparency regarding review criteria
Understand the requirements for an FSPH undergraduate degree
Recognize rules and regulations that govern the FSPH undergraduate degree
Proactively seek information and assistance from FSPH Counselors, Public Health Academic Mentors (PHAMs), and other campus resources
We are available for appointments in-person and via Zoom during business hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm). We are unavailable during weekends and University holidays.
Declared pre-majors, majors, and minors can use the MyUCLA Appointment Scheduler (MyUCLA > Academics > Advising and Academic Services > Appointments) to book in-person or Zoom appointments with our advisors.
All current UCLA undergraduate students can connect with our office through the MyUCLA Message Center (Academic counseling unit: "Public Health - Undergraduate"). Please allow two to three (2-3) business days for a response.
Our office is located in the Life Sciences Building, suite 5127. The office is open Mondays through Thursdays, from 9:00am-4:00pm (except University holidays).

Jessika Herrera (she/they) is the Manager for Undergraduate Student Services. She oversees the operations of the Undergraduate Student Services Office, including academic advising, programming, and administrative processes.
Ashley Pham (she/her) is one of FSPH's Undergraduate Academic Advisors. She is a resource for declared Public Health BA and BS majors. Ashley can advise students on FSPH rules and regulations, major requirements, enrollment, adding minors, and FSPH petition processes.
Shalizbeth Villegas (she/her) is one of FSPH's Undergraduate Academic Advisors. She is a resource for prospective majors and minors, declared pre-majors, and declared Public Health minors. Shalizbeth can advise students on Public Health pre-major and minor requirements, the major/minor application process, and enrollment.
Kyle McJunkin is the School's Assistant Dean of Academic Programs. He will facilitate undergraduate community-based learning experiences through PUB HLT 195CE. He will also teach the Public Health major capstone courses during Winter and Spring 2026.
