Journal Prompt

What are some things that you are not allowed to do in this time of social distancing? What do you wish you were able to do again?

  • Optional: ask an adult at home some things they are not allowed to do and what they wish they were able to do again.

Directions from Last Week

We are experiencing an historical event and would like you to create a journal of your experience during this time. In the future, you can look back on this journal and share with others. You are creating a primary source for future generations. Each week we will give you a new prompt to write or draw about.

Create or buy a journal

  • You can use a notebook or staple some pages together

  • Order a journal online if needed

  • Optional: decorate the cover

Ask an adult to help you save this important work.

Feelings Friday

Social Studies

Listen to the Directions Read Aloud

In first grade we use a curriculum called Second Step, in which we talk about how faces can help show our feelings. We also learn to look at other people’s faces to see how they are feeling so we know how to treat that person.

  • Choose 4 different feelings (examples: happy, sad, confused, angry, enraged, excited, scared, anxious, etc.)

  • Take a photo or draw a picture of what your face would look like for each of the 4 feelings you chose.

  • Show your pictures to someone in your family and have them guess what feeling you were showing. If they get it correct, give them a high five!

  • Send your pictures to your teacher over e-mail or Seesaw and have your teacher make a guess! We can’t wait to see your faces.
