The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) is committed to spearheading development towards excellence and quality education through upholding the University's Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
OVCAA supervises the academic support service units of the University. The Office handles all academic, curricular, and instructional engagements of students and University employees. OVCAA also oversees the creation, execution, review, coordination, and monitoring of the undergraduate and graduate academic policies. It also manages admission and scholarship processes, safe keeping of academic records, supervision of online learning platforms and library services, scholarship programs, alumni relations and placement, and the conduct of national service training programs of the University.
One of the highlight events of the Office is hosting the 1st MSU System Academic Summit. It is a three-day event held at the MSU-IIT gymnasium on November 28-30, 2022. The Academic Summit invited members of the MSU Board of Regents, MSU System Officials, and academic heads from the 13 MSU campuses to share insights and experiences related to academic matters.
OVCAA also conducted face-to-face orientation of academic processes after the pandemic. The 1st Year Students Academic Orientation happened on August 23, 2022. The University welcomed freshmen students with an orientation on the processes and functions of each cost center under OVCAA, while the Graduate Policies Orientation occurred on September 16, 2022. This orientation presented policies and guidelines to graduate students.
The Office also proudly reports as one of its accomplishments the creation of the Center for General Education of MSU-IIT (CGEM). CGEM promotes the general education courses (GEC) following the SHIFT (Society-oriented, Holistic (and Inclusive), Innovation-driven, Future-ready, and Transformative) Framework. The Center was launched alongside a series of lectures and workshops in the same year. These events aimed at fleshing out the philosophical framework of MSU-IIT's GE Curricula.
Another major accomplishment of the Office is renaming the Office of the Director for Graduate Studies (ODGS) into the Center for Advanced Education and Lifelong Learning (CAELL). The Center functions as an administrative support that promotes quality, relevant, and inclusive continuing education or lifelong learning.
Moreover, as one of its mandates, the Office ensures the security of tenure of faculty by conducting interviews and evaluating documents of faculty members recommended for tenure. The particulars are shared below:
OVCAA also recognized students’ achievements, thus obligated the amount of Php 255,000 through BOR Res No. 200, series of 2008. The Office awarded the following top notchers of various Licensure Examinations monetary incentives:
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs will keep working towards academic excellence by adhering to policies and regulations in developing academic programs.
