This year, the college was involved in two major computing professional gatherings in the country. One was the May 2022 virtual Philippine Science Computing Congress (PCSC) in collaboration with the Computing Society of the Philippines. This congress brought together researchers, educators, and professionals from across the country to share and discuss their latest findings and innovations in the field of computing. In November 2022, we also co-hosted the 1st Iligan Digital Economy Summit and 2022 Campus DEVCON (Developer's Connect), two events that aimed to promote the growth and development of the digital economy in Iligan City.
Innovation was also evident to the students through the integration of technopreneurship into the curriculum which resulted to startup participation of CCS students both in the local and international arena. At the regional level, Team Sirena AI has won 1st Runner-Up in the Regional Pitching Competition of the Philippine Startup Challenge - Northern Mindanao Region. At the international level, Abe Apao, a CCS student with her team, placed second in the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Sustainathon ASEAN Challenge in Singapore. They presented their project “Kopihan”, which aims to connect students and teachers in a one-for-all web application. Moreover, Leonhel V. Fortin from the Department of Computer Applications was selected as one of the top candidates to represent the Philippines in the Huawei Asia-Pacific Seeds for the Future 2022 in Bangkok and Hua Hin, Thailand.
It has been a productive research year for the college having 23 research under the supervision of faculty members. Various research areas have been explored consisting of twelve (12) internally funded research, nine (9) funded by Futures Thinking and Artificial Intelligence Fund, and two (2) externally funded under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Philippine Council for Industry Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development, and Philippine Council for Health Research and Development. The list of research is shown below:
For research dissemination, six (6) research outputs were presented in international and two (2) in local conferences where at least CCS faculty members or student were involved. For publication, the college produced ten (10) publications, eight(8) of which are Scopus-Indexed, one (1) ASEAN-Indexed and one (1) in a book chapter.

Although the community extension activities were moved towards the end of the year, it was proven that projects were relevant to the community. The project “Implementation of Smart Water Monitoring System for Tilapia Farming” has won the Best Paper and Presenter for Cluster A of the 20th MSU-IIT Annual In-House Review of Research and Development Projects - Extension Category. Moreover, the my.Eskwela project of Dr. Orven Llantos was deployed to Department of Education schools in Iligan City. This is an example of a research utilized by the community. To expand our collaboration and share new technologies, an Internet-of-Things training was conducted in partnership with Philippine Society for Information Technology Education (PSITE) Region 10 last October 27-28, 2022. Lastly, a collaborative extension activity with students was conducted to four barangays in Iligan City to help them used information technology to map disaster risk areas in relation to disaster preparedness.
In our effort to continually consult stakeholders on the activities of the college, a Stakeholder's Consultation for Limited Face to Face Classes was conducted where students and parents were consulted and oriented on how the college will implement the limited face to face classes. For an industry partner, a close collaboration with the Limonero Fruit Drinks was conducted for the development of an Electronic Payment Vending Machine, which is a research project led by Asst. Prof. Joel I. Miano. The project also involves the collaboration of FALAB Mindanao's former director, Assoc. Prof. Lemuel Velasco, through ILIGANICE, and the industry owner, represented by Mr. Rodolfo N. Mariano Jr. Further, to contribute to the issues of Iligan City, we met with Iligan City Water Works Systems (ICWS) to consult and present possible collaboration of the college for research and extension.
This year, three (3) faculty members namely January F. Naga and Shehab D. Ibrahim, both from Information Technology Department and Julieto E. Perez from Computer Science Department were granted study leave to pursue their doctoral programs under CHED-SIKAP scholarship.
In our continued connection with alumni, we were able to trace 95.1% of CCS graduates (2020-2021) two years ago is currently working. In sharing our practices, we also cater to Benchmarking of Camarines Sur Polytechnic College (CSPC) which visited the campus last December 16, 2022. Lastly, to be prepared for the year 2023, CCS faculty members and staff conducted the Action Planning and Team building in Laguindingan on July 28-30, 2022 while the student organizations last December 15-16, 2022 at Initao.
