Table Saw

The table saw, also known as a SawStop, is used for making long, straight cuts. Consisting of a rotating circular saw raised above the surface of a table, the table saw is used with a guide that runs parallel to the saw blade. The guide is adjusted and locked to set the location of the cut, and the workpiece is pushed through the saw blade. The table saw should usually be used with a push stick, and can be used with a magswitch to keep the piece against the guide. The cover should stay on the blade at all times. DO NOT use the table saw for conductive materials or PVC pipes.

types of cuts

Rip cuts are really a table saw's strong point and is probably the most common cut that the table saw is known for. A rip cut is basically ripping a material lengthwise, going with the grain (in most cases) and is really what the table saw shines at.

The table saw can also do cross cuts, but make sure you use a sled for these to avoid any kickback. When in doubt, always ask a proctor!
