Arbor Press

The arbor press is a small, hand-operated press that uses a long lever, pinion, and rack to increase mechanical advantage on a bar that moves vertically up and down. This press can be used for a variety of applications, most notably pressing the hard face into the E4 hammer head. It can also be used for press-fitting (such as for bearings or interference-fit parts), stamping dies, or installing rivets. Be careful not to put your hand under the press; the ram can apply over 2 tons of force!

Materials

Arbor presses are used for broaching metals, straightening, metal pressing, bending, and punching on an assembly line floor or in smaller workshops. They can also be used for embossing metals and are most often used in the manufacturing industry to shape metal materials, under pressure. Tasks such as staking, riveting, installing, configuring/removing bearings are commonly performed using an arbor press and presses are rated based on the maximum load applied.
