Sustainable Cities & COMMUNITIES 

1.持続可能な都市は、以下の5つの要件をバランス良くもって いる都市であると考える。 ①公平・公正 ②安全・安心 ③環境にやさしい ④利便性/競争力がある ⑤創造力がある この持続可能な都市を実現するための基盤として、適切な 都市基盤・都市マネジメントが必要である。

2.包括的で安全かつ強靭（レジリエント）で持続可能な都市及び人間居住を実現する。持続可能な都市とコミュニティの実現が目標とされています。これには、安全で手頃な住宅の提供、持続可能な交通システムの確立、文化や自然遺産の保護、災害に強い都市づくりなどが含まれます。世界の都市化は急速に進んでおり、多くの人々が都市部に集中しています。このため、都市部での生活の質を高め、持続可能な環境を構築することが急務となっています。また、気候変動や災害リスクの増加に伴い、都市の脆弱性が高まっていることも大きな課題です。都市計画や管理の改善、住宅や基本サービスへのアクセスの拡充、環境に配慮した都市インフラの整備などが求められています。これにより、全ての人々が安全で健康的かつ持続可能な都市環境で生活できるようになるでしょう。（SDGs BOOK, 2024/01/15, 目標11　住み続けられるまちづくりを）

3.コンパクトシティ：コンパクトシティとは、住まい・交通・公共サービス・商業施設などの生活機能をコンパクトに集約し、効率的な土地利用と持続可能な開発を行う都市、または政策のこと。脱車社会を目指し、公共交通機関や徒歩で移動できる範囲に都市機能をまとめることで、生活の利便性向上や行政サービスの充実、経済の活性化などを図る取り組みだ。

2. Sustainable cities: “What makes a city sustainable? There are a range of factors that make a city sustainable. A sustainable city is an urban centre with the objective to improve its environmental impact and lessen its climate change risks. 3. Places where people want to live and work, now and in the future:  "Sustainable communities are places where people want to live and work, now and in the future. They meet the diverse needs of existing and future residents, are sensitive to their environment, and contribute to a high quality of life. They are safe and inclusive, well planned, built and run, and offer equality of opportunity and good services for all.

      Sustainable communities embody the principles of sustainable development. They:

• balance and integrate the social, economic and environmental components of their community

• meet the needs of existing and future generations

• respect the needs of other communities in the wider region or internationally also to make their communities sustainable. ..."
