Students in Foundations of Science designed and implemented their own inquiry labs exploring factors that influence wind energy. Designing your own experiment challenges the mind and forces you to analyze every aspect of the scientific process.
Chemistry students investigate the water solubility of various substances.
In Anatomy class students simulated the process of digestion using cereal as a starting point and worked various forms of chemical and mechanical digestion until they reached the "end of the road".
Chemistry students experiment with Lycopodium which is unreactive when in a pile, but flammable when turned into a dust. Lycopodium also self-extinguishes after ignition!

Intro to Chemistry students create a standard curve based on conductivity.
Anatomy and Physiology class starting to learn about the skeletal system.

Students in Vermont History visit the Vermont History Center’s Research and Exhibition Gallery looking at artifacts from 200+ years of Vermont History.
In the "You are what you eat" course, students made scale models out of yarn showing how long the gastrointestinal tract really is!
Students in Intro to College Writing discuss the book, "How to be a Grown Up" by Raffi Grinberg.

Naviance
Naviance is a college and career exploration tool that helps students connect their interests, strengths, and skills to future career and educational pathways. Students take self-assessments, explore careers, and can use a search/matching tool to find colleges that fit their goals. Students applying to college will request teacher letters of recommendation and link their Common App account through Naviance.

9th Grade Check-in Meeting
In November and December, high school counselors will be meeting individually with each 9th-grade student for a brief check-in. These meetings are an opportunity to get to know students better, discuss how their transition to high school is going, and offer support with academics, social adjustment, and future planning. Our goal is that every student feels connected, supported, and aware of the resources available to help them succeed throughout high school.
Students can use the links below to schedule a meeting directly. If a student does not schedule a meeting, their school counselor will set up a time with them.
