In the 19th century, Johan Bernhard Calberg Christofferson, the father of my mother's father, emigrated to Denmark from Gothenburg in Sweden, where his family lived. He met Anne Petrine, with whom he had 3 children, Carla, Anna, and my grandfather Robert. I have not been able to find out why my great grandfather decided to leave his native country Sweden in the 19th century and move to Denmark. However, one time, as my mother and I went to the DOKK1 library in Aarhus to do some research on the topic, we spoke to a librarian, who told us that in the 19th century, there was a famine in Sweden. It is possible, the librarian told us, that it was due to this famine that my great grandfather left Sweden and went to Denmark to live. In Denmark, Johan Bernhard worked as a foreman at the company Aarhus Oliefabrik, which is now AAK.

About Anders Jensen, the father of my mother's mother, I know relatively little. I learned that he and his wife Jacobine Marie Johannes Jensen (born Voigt) had two daughters, Nancy and my mother's mother Elly. I also learned that Anders Jensen worked in Copenhagen as a builder for the company Burmeister & Wain, a shipyard and engine producer founded by two Danes and an Englishman. In addition, my mother told me that Anders Jensen was a catholic. And therefore, my mother's mother Elly became a catholic. My mother explained that she remembers that her mother's father told her stories when sitting in his rocking chair. It was so calm and quiet, my mother said. Anders Jensen died in 1908.
My mother told me that her mother's mother, Jacobine Marie Johannes Jensen (born Voigt), was a lovely calm grandmother with whom my mother was happy to spend time with. Jacobine Marie worked as a tailor. She worked at home and sewed, for example, vests, which people wore a lot in those days. On Sunday evenings, she invited family members over to play cards and have dinner together. Jacobine Marie also invited her family to coffee and cookies in forest cafes as well as to events such as the ice show Holiday on Ice.

Viggo Voigt and his wife loved to dress well and often wore beautiful clothes. They lived at Marselisborg Allé in Aarhus in the same house as their daughter. Viggo Voigt and his wife lived on the first floor, and their daughter lived on the floor below them.
