PSAT

Q: What is the PSAT/NMSQT?

A: The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT)/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) is a voluntary multiple-choice test that measures verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities.

  • It can give students/parents an idea of which AP courses the student may be ready to take.

Q: Who can take the PSAT/NMSQT?

A: The PSAT/NMSQT is for 10th and 11th grade students. Students in 10th grade can be recognized for a high score. However, only students in 11th grade will qualify for scholarships ($$ for college) when taking the exam.

A: The PSAT/NMSQT exam is taken during the Fall, at the high school, and is taken during the school day.

Q: How long is the PSAT/NMSQT?

A: The PSAT/NMSQT takes about 3 hours to complete.

A: If you still have questions on if you should take the exam, or if you have logistical questions, please contact Mrs. Laurie Strom in Pupil Services.
