ACT

Q: What is the ACT?

A: The ACT is a state standardized test given to all 11th grade students in March.

  • It is most commonly used as a college/university entrance test

  • The ACT can also be used by some employers who may require a certain score on a specific area of the test (example: Math)

Q: When is the ACT?

A: The ACT is given on a specific day, in March, dictated by the WI Department of Instruction.

Students take this exam during the school day and it will last about 4 hours.

Q: Does the ACT cost money?

A: When the ACT is given, by the high school in March, there is no fee.

  • If you would like to retake the exam, you will have to sign up through ACT.org and pay a fee.

Q: How do I get more information about the ACT, or sign up for another test date?

A: Click the "ACT webpage" image and visit the ACT.org website. There you can find a way to sign up for a retake exam, view test scores, or utilize the free prep resources for the upcoming exam.

Q: How can I prepare for the ACT?

A:There are many ways to prepare for the ACT exam. In class, students will work with teachers to prepare for exam questions. Outside of school, students can utilize the following resources:

  1. Students can visit ACT.org for free test prep resources.

  2. Students can visit BADGERLINK to access the LearningExpress Library: College Admissions Test Preparation

    • Here, you will find that you have access to ACT prep tests

    • Make sure that you create an account in order to save your progress!

  3. 11th grade students have access to a FREE ACT prep course through their Plato account. Speak with your counselor if you would like to utilize this resource.

The SAT is similar to the ACT. Most colleges accept either the SAT or the ACT for college admissions purposes. The SAT is more common in the eastern and western states.
