Start College Now/Early College Credit Program

The Start College Now (SCN) & Early College Credit Program (ECCP) gives students the opportunity to take college level courses while still attending high school.

Start College Now (SCN)

Start College Now allows high school students to take college courses through the Wisconsin Technical College system. Qualifications for SCN include:

  • Students in 11th or 12th grade

  • Comparable course must not be offered by the district (ex: student may not be able to take English 101 at the college because the high school offers AP English)

  • SCN application (found in Pupil Services)

  • Students must complete and turn in their application to their counselor by January 25th (for Summer semester), February 25th (for Fall semester) or September 25th (for Spring semester)

  • Students are responsible for their own transportation

  • Students are responsible for the cost of the course and other course fees if they do not complete or fail the course

Early College Credit Program (ECCP)

Previously known as Youth Options (YO), the Early College Credit Program (ECCP) allows high school students to take one or more courses at private colleges/universities or the University of WI system schools. Qualifications for the ECCP program include:

  • Students in 9th-12th grade

  • Comparable course must not be offered by the district (ex: student may not be able to take English 101 at the college because the high school offers AP English)

  • ECCP application (found in Pupil Services)

  • Students must complete and turn in their application to their counselor by January 25th (for Summer semester), February 25th (for Fall semester) or September 25th (for Spring semester)

  • Students are responsible for their own transportation. However, if a student qualifies for free & reduced lunch, parents can receive transportation reimbursement through DPI by clicking on the provided link (DPI Transportation Reimbursement)

  • Students are responsible for the cost of the course and other course fees if they do not complete or fail the course

Before deciding on taking a college course, please make an appointment to speak with your school counselor. They will guide you through the process and make sure that you have all application forms in order.
