Update from the Principal's Desk:
Parents, thank you for completing the survey regarding your main priorities during the middle school years at SFMS. You shared that you like the grade level newsletters to be bulleted with important dates for subjects and school events, and that has been shared with the grade levels.
At both curriculum nights I shared the pie chart below with parents that indicated your priorities, and I also shared what we have done to help meet your needs.
In addition to FLEX sessions to support your children academically and socially, we are also bringing back All A's breakfast in the winter and spring, as well as the continued RISE rewards for students who exemplify our SFMS values of Responsibility, Integrity, Safety, and Empathy. Thank you for your continued feedback. Please feel free to reach out to me or any administrator with any suggestions you have for the greater good!

Hi everyone,
We are officially over a month into school! We appreciate all the support you provide to our students as they adjust to life in middle school. I wanted to take a moment to tell you about the role of the middle school counselor. I am here to support your student with anything that might be hindering their success, whether that be scheduling or academic concerns, peer/friend issues, anxiety or stress, or outside of school stressors. I work with students, teachers, administrators, and families to ensure that students have the skills and tools they need to be successful. I am available for all students, so please let them know they can reach out to me at any time. As a reminder, they can request an appointment with me on Canvas on the SFM Student Info Course. I will be holding various Flex sessions throughout the year. Sometimes we will play games just to get to know one another, and other times, I will hold Flex sessions that reflect the needs of our 6th grade students. Thank you again for your continued support, and as always, please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Have a great weekend!

Parent Volunteer Opportunities:
Sign up HERE if you would like to volunteer throughout the school year.
We love our SFMS teachers! To our new parents, Welcome!! Each month we try to do something special to let our teachers know all of their hard work is appreciated! This first 1/2 of the year we would like to cover lunch duty on the following dates with volunteer parents:
Sept 14- Parents providing soft drinks for teachers
Oct 18- Concrete Craft of North Atlanta providing lunch
Nov 17-Cross Country Mortgage, LLC providing lunch
Dec 7-South Forsyth Middle School providing Coffee Bar
Volunteers stand in the cafeteria for an hour and let the kids know when to head back to class. You will be with 7 other volunteers and maybe get to embarrass your child! It is super easy! This gives the teachers a quiet time to enjoy lunch and it is a much appreciated way to give back. If you can’t come during school hours, please consider donating soft drinks for our teachers. You can send these in with your student and drop off at the main office. There is a slot for these on the sign up as well.
