Yearbook: Pre-order your yearbook early for the best pricing! www.yearbookordercenter.com, school code 14751.
Cell Phones: Parents & Guardians - we need your help! If your student has a cellphone, they may not use it from the time that they arrive at school until dismissal. Please do not text or call your student during the school day. We have devices for students to use in the classroom if they do not have technology to bring with them. Students may bring their own technology (Chromebooks, laptops, and iPads) to use for instructional purposes.
Drop Offs: We do not allow drop offs of student items during the school day, with the exception of medications and/or glasses. If a student forgets his or her lunch, they may purchase a lunch in the cafeteria. Please make sure that your child's MyPaymentsPlus account has funds uploaded.
Walkers: Please communicate with your child regarding a back-up plan in case of afternoon storms . Will your child be a bus rider or car rider? We have an extra bus for Three-Chimneys students in the event that walking home is not allowed due to storms.
RISE Expectations: Our students have spent the week learning about our school's RISE expectations relating to Responsibility, Integrity, Safety, and Empathy. We are looking forward to celebrating our students as they RISE to occasion.
Update from the Principal's Desk:
SFMS Families-
We have had an excellent first full week of school. The car rider line has been manageable, busses have been on time and smooth, and, most importantly, our students have been smiling and appear happy to be back! We certainly didn’t plan for three out of the six days of dismissal to be stormy, but I think we weathered it well. We had class meetings on Thursday with all grade levels to explain our behavioral expectations, as well as have some fun with the plate game. Ask your students to play with you as a family.
On a logistics note, please remember that we do not excuse absences for car rider tardies due to weather. If you are a car rider, please plan appropriately. Also, please be certain that your contacts in IC are up-to-date for student check out’s.
Although we always have a lot to celebrate as a school, I want to share with you my pride for our band program and football program. Our symphonic band program was recently invited to compete in the esteemed Music for All National Competition 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana. To say this is a big accomplishment is truly an understatement. Big congrats to Dr. Poor and the band program. Also, let’s give our football players a huge pat on the back to the football team! Our football players played hard against rivals, The Lakeside Lions, this past Tuesday! It ended in a tie, and we are proud of those kids and coaches!
As we move into the semester, thank you for supporting our mission of embracing, empowering, and educating our students and one another.

6th grade ELA will be exploring the different story elements of a narrative. Students recently wrote story snippets that shared a memorable moment in their early childhood. Through figurative language and strong word choice, students were able to strengthen their writing to depict this key moment and share it with the class. We will continue focusing on figurative language and word choice as we move through our narrative unit. Students will have a formative quiz on Friday, August 18th over figurative language and word choice.

My name is Lara Bramel, and I am the 6th grade counselor this year! This is my 3rd year as a school counselor and my first year at SFMS. The past two years I spent at the elementary level in Gwinnett County. It has been so fun getting to know our incredible staff and students this week! The first couple weeks of school can be really exhausting. It can be overwhelming for our 6th grade students to change classes, keep up with 7 different teachers, and learn their locker combination. As a result, it's important to remember to take time over the weekend to rest and recharge. Remind your student to do the things that help them destress, like spending time outside, listening to music, reading, playing board games or sports. This will help them feel prepared and ready to go when they come back to school on Monday. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to support your student this year!
Technology
Welcome to the 2023 School Year! If your child is in need of a chromebook please have them reach out to Mr. Levi. They will receive an agreement form to take home and once it’s signed and returned to him they will get a new chromebook. Thank you!

Sept 14- Parents providing soft drinks for teachers
Oct 18- Concrete Craft of North Atlanta providing lunch
Nov 17-Cross Country Mortgage, LLC providing lunch
Dec 7-South Forsyth Middle School providing Coffee Bar
Volunteers stand in the cafeteria for an hour and let the kids know when to head back to class. You will be with 7 other volunteers and maybe get to embarrass your child! It is super easy! This gives the teachers a quiet time to enjoy lunch and it is a much appreciated way to give back.
If you can’t come during school hours, please consider donating soft drinks for our teachers. You can send these in with your student and drop off at the main office. There is a slot for these on the sign up as well.
