Traditional Celebration of Achievement

The Traditional Celebration of Achievement (TCOA) is an annual opportunity for the communities of the Wood Buffalo Region to celebrate the graduating achievements of its grade 12 FNMI students. TCOA first began in 1998 with only 11 graduates and continues to grow each and every year. Graduates from Fort McMurray Catholic Schools, Fort McMurray Public Schools, and Northlands School Division are celebrated at TCOA.

Supported by generous grant funding from local corporate partners, the three school boards (Public, Catholic and Northland), Athabasca Tribal Council (who represents the 5 nations) and our Metis Local 1935. TCOA marks the culmination of the education and support of our First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students. The celebration weaves traditional FNMI cultural elements with congratulations from their families, friends, school and community leaders.
