Leader in Me helps schools create well-rounded learners by developing the whole-person and preparing students to become life-ready leaders.
Leader in Me unites students, staff, and families around a common goal to prepare students with college, career, and life-readiness skills that are necessary to thrive in today’s ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
The Leader in Me shines through in a variety of specific ways for our Indigenous students. By creating leadership opportunities, culture and a goal oriented focus on academics, we are helping our students become successful leaders.
We have created Elder Keepers as leadership opportunities in our schools to assist Elders when they visit. Students independently meet and greet the elder as well as escorting them to their space and making sure they have everything they need including a comfortable chair and a drink of tea or water.
After experiencing cultural leadership opportunities through Land Based Learning Camps. we hope to potentially have our High School students guide Elementary students during cultural day camps.
We have a Student Advisory group that meets to explore issues and develop solutions while honoring, practicing and preserving Indigenous culture, stories, traditions and history. They meet with Trustee members to provide the thoughts they gather so the board can make informed decisions.
These are just a few examples of Indigenous Leadership opportunities for our students.
