Note: Health and P.E. must be taken BEFORE any Weight Training course can be taken. Therefore, some 9th graders may not be able to take Weight Training unless their Health and P.E. is first semester, and that cannot be guaranteed.
BOYS WEIGHT TRAINING (Elective)- Prerequisite: Health and Physical Education
This course will consist of lifting through a strenuous upper and lower body workout, running, and physical conditioning. It is designed to improve fundamentals that will prevent injury on athletic fields and for the person serious about his/her strength and physical conditioning.
GIRLS WEIGHT TRAINING (Elective)- Prerequisite: Health and Physical Education
This course will consist of lifting through a strenuous upper and lower body workout, running, and physical conditioning. It is designed to improve fundamentals that will prevent injury on athletic fields and for the person serious about his/her strength and physical conditioning.
ADVANCED P.E. (Co-Ed Elective)- Prerequisite: Health and Physical Education
The class consists of learning the proper stretching techniques, playing such sports as basketball, softball, flag football, badminton, volleyball, indoor soccer, and frisbee. A two-week physical conditioning unit is also taught.
TEAM SPORTS (Co-Ed Elective)- Prerequisite: Health and Physical Education
The focus of this course is on increasing and encouraging the improvement of the student's skill-related physical fitness. This will be attained through various team sports activities and other organized athletics. These activities will be structured accordingly to encourage ethical competition among students which will provide students the opportunity for daily physical activity.
